    Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane and pressure to separate the solvent (pure water) from the solutes (impurities and contaminants) present in a concentrated solution.\nWater passes through the membrane from the concentrated solution to the diluted solution, producing purified water. The process produces two streams: on one side, virtually pure water, and on the other side, a solution even more concentrated in solutes.
